3 Reasons Why the Swipe up Feature on Instagram is Overrated.
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?
There's more to Instagram than meets the eye.
If you're into Instagram then you know about the swipe up feature. Swipe up allows you to swipe up from the bottom of a story straight to a website of your choosing. This is one of the only two places to add an actual link inside Instagram. For years this feature has only been available to accounts with over 10k followers. Ten thousand is a LOT of people, especially if you're new to Instagram or have a new account. Everyone wants more followers, I get it, even I get caught up in the numbers game sometimes. Some people add a lot of value to that swipe up link even though there are things much more important to take into consideration.
3 Reasons Why the Swipe up Feature on Instagram is Overrated:
The link in your bio can have multiple links. This is a huge opportunity for anyone, business or not, to drive people to multiple websites. It's great for affiliate marketing, great for products, great for everything! Here are a few of the best companies for utilizing links in your bio: solo.to, link in bio, and Link tree. I personally use the solo.to company for mine because I like the look and feel better. They all work great/ serve the same purpose.
Swiping is overrated but let me tell you WHY! Everything we do on our phones involves swiping. We swipe to scroll, we swipe to answer calls, we swipe to look at photos, etc. Even my toddler knows how to swipe. All of these things are to remind you not to put too much power into one thing. Trust me when I say, one more thing (like swipe up) isn't everything.
If your content is good enough, you don't need the swipe up feature to make the sale. Basically, we have to shift our focus to things that matter. What are some things that matter? Engaging with people and other businesses. Making sure you're branding and colors are consistent and cohesive. And of course, spending time on the app!
